Pencil will bleed through if not fixed. I’ve used typical fixative, and the damar varnish spray stuff (sorry, accurate name eludes me at the moment) but since then I’ve had no problems whatsoever. Have you ever considered using silver point for sketching? I use pencil, then spray it with fixative.
