There are four fundamental compositional elements of dance: space, time, force, and shape.
What are the different levels of movement?
Three types of basic body movements are locomotor, non-locomotor, and manipulative movements.
What are low level movements?
Low Level. Low level actions create a sense of groundedness, connection with the earth, rest or vulnerability. Examples of low level movements could be, bending, kneeling, rolling, crawling, crouching, sitting and reclining.
What is medium level in dance?
Levels in dance refers to high, medium and low: • Low levels are close to the ground or with the majority of the body touching the ground • Medium levels are created between the knees and shoulders • High levels are created above the shoulders and head.
What are the movement skills?
- locomotor and non-locomotor skills — rolling, balancing, sliding, jogging, running, leaping, jumping, hopping, dodging, galloping and skipping.
- object control skills — bouncing, throwing, catching, kicking, striking.
What is internal and external movement?
Internal and external rotation (medial and lateral rotation) – Rotation refers to movements made about the longitudinal axis and in the transverse plane. Internal rotation is rotating a joint towards the midline and external rotation is rotating a joint away from the midline.
What is locomotor and non locomotor movement?
Locomotor movements: movement through space involving a change of location; moving from one point to another; a moving base involving a progression of relocation of the body in space. Non-Locomotor: movement occurring above a stationary base; movement of the body in one place around its own axis.
What are the two kinds of movement?
As you know that the earth has two types of motions, namely rotation and revolution.
What is space level in dance?
Space: refers to the space through which the dancer’s body moves (general or personal space, level, size, direction, pathway, focus). Time: is applied as both musical and dance elements (beat, tempo, speed, rhythm, sudden, slow, sustained).
